Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate gender, age, motivation, and self-efficacy of students enrolled in their first online college course. During the spring semester of 2010, 219 (53 male and 166 female) students enrolled as a large, Midwest University completed an online version of the Motivation Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ). The primary question explored in this study is: What is the relationship between gender, age, motivation and self-efficacy of 1st time online college students? Data and preliminary results will be presented and discussed.
