Abstract

The objective of this study is to develop an analysis model for evaluating dynamic characteristics of designed active prosthetic feet. We will propose the specific evaluation method which can provide detailed analysis needed in the designing stage to make a noble prosthetic feet using dynamic simulation model of stance phase of gait and some quantities can evaluate the dynamic performance of feet directly. Most of the active prosthetic feet are using carbon composite materials. The cores of designing the keel are shapes like as thickness and curvature of side shape and the methods of lay-up fibers. The simulation model is using FEM model which supply fine deformation analysis and stress-strain analysis because this study focused at the shape designing. The gait experiments and analyses about trans-tibial amputee using several active feet were performed and we have found out that the relationships between the ankle angles and the ground reaction forces might be a performance evaluation reference of the dynamic compliance of the keel. This study is our first stage of development of models for stance phase dynamic characteristics of prosthetic feet and we will find out more effective estimation references ongoing studies.
