Abstract

Port operation management is an important issue in the successes of a port because it has a significant role in the efficiency and cost effectiveness of port operations. Port equipments are expensive and this is important for investors to choose optimal number of them. Material flow planning in ports has significant role to avoid stoking cargoes more than usual and increasing stocking cost. So an efficient port operation management should give attention to problems such as choose optimal number of equipments in different parts of a port and material flow planning. In this paper a simulation model has been designed for Parsian port which is a port in Iran that is under study and is planned to construct in later years, to help investors to choose optimal number of equipments in different parts of port.
