Abstract

A new method to enhance the specific brainwave is proposed in this study. A laser array stimulator (LAS) (6 pcs laser diode (LD), wavelength 830nm, output power: 7mW, operation frequency: 10 Hz) was used to stimulate the palm of the tester. The advantages of the low-level laser therapy (LLLT) are safe, easy to use, and low cost. Infrared laser diode array was used as the light source in this study and to radiate the palm of the tester. A spectral analysis of electroencephalogram (EEG) was performed. An eyes-open EEG data were recorded during and after stimulation. Average voltage power in the delta (2-4Hz), theta (4-7Hz), alpha1 (9.5-10.5 Hz), alpha2 (8-13Hz) and beta (13-20Hz) band was calculated. The experimental results reveal the power of the alpha1 and alpha2 band has been enhanced with this laser array which operated in specific frequency 10Hz. Significant activations were found in the parietal lobe 、 the occipital lobe and the temporal lobe (p<0.05).
