Abstract

This paper describes the design of a wrist pulse acquisition system for acquiring the wrist pulse pressure signals for further analysis to obtain the health status. A piezoresistive pressure sensor has been chosen to sense the wrist pulse palpitation and to provide change in the resistance. The corresponding electrical signal is appropriately amplified, filtered, digitized and recorded for further processing. The system enables monitoring and long time recording of the signals using Signal Express software from LabView. The overall system design aspects in terms of sensitivity, gain and resolution are presented. The wrist pulse signals acquired using the system for normal and abnormal health status are also presented.
