Abstract

This paper presents a new multilevel inverter called load point clamped (LPC). This new topology is deduced from neutral point clamped (NPC) and multipoint clamped (MPC) structures. This inverter has three major advantages: (a) all clamping diodes are removed, (b) the command strategy is very simple only with one carrier signal at low switching frequency, and (c) the new inverter can work freely with different voltage waveforms from two-level to K-level.
