Abstract

With the evolution in the image processing and computer vision techniques and algorithms, human machine interaction has gone a few steps forward to the simple image processing. Robots understanding human languages and faces are common nowadays, but what about those who can’t speak. Of course the deaf people have this handicap and they can only use gestures to express their thoughts, feelings and ideas. In this paper, an efficient human hand gesture segmentation algorithm has been proposed that segments the image on the basis of color space transformations and extracting the best out of each to get a fully segment hand image. Later, a gesture recognition algorithm based on edge count has also been suggested.
