Abstract

CFD simulation was used to analyze the effectiveness of guide vanes in increasing the air mass flow rate, reduce cross-flow velocity and reduce turbulent KE at the inlet plan of a large building-integrated wind turbine. The results show great potential for controlling these parameters via using modified inside walls configurations and variable inlet-angle guide vanes. The results are important in maximizing the power output of large building-integrated turbines as well as reducing sources of vibration.
