Abstract

This paper deals mainly about the flow simulation of Lake Harapan, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) main campus, which is generated by using CCHE2D modelling software. Lake Harapan has been accumulating pollutants from the upstream Gambir River for many years and it is important to locate the area of pollutants. CCHE2D software is able to generate 2D flow simulation with sediment transport module for the lake. By acquiring those estimated output from CCHE2D, few particular locations of the concentrated sediment areas in the lake can be detected. It was suspected that pollutants from the upstream will form sedimentation at Lake Harapan and will concentrate at vortices point. This research is able to assist the maintenance of Lake Harapan to be carried out effectively. From this study, few points of the lake we need to be cleaned up and we suggest few solutions to overcome this problem so that the fund required for rehabilitation can be reduced.
