AHP methodology, tenant screening evaluation, business incubator.
A business incubator is an organization designed to accelerate the growth and success of new entrepreneurial companies by nurturing them at their inception. One of the most important success factors to be considered for many technology-based incubators is selection of potential tenants. Therefore, a tenant screening evaluation is a significant issue for business incubators. There are several criteria to be considered in assessing the candidate businesses. Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) is a method to support multi-criteria decision making and AHP is also an effective technique for analyzing such a complex problem. In this paper, an AHP methodology is applied for determining the most likely commercially successful candidates by considering two dimensions of the business attractiveness and the fit between the potential tenant and the host. This will lead to selecting tenants successfully in order to increase the probability of tenant success and thus incubator success.
