Abstract

This paper deals with the finite element analysis for predicting the performance of induction motors consisting in rotor bars breaking. The two dimensional quasi-static and transient analysis has been carried out to determine magnetic vector potential, flux density, and surface currents very accurately. With the help of this analysis detailed magnetic field distribution can be computed for further evaluation of motor operational behavior. The experimental results of the healthy motor considered as reference to compare with computed results to validate the model.
