Abstract

This paper presents the operation of the multilevel inverter based shunt active filter. This shunt active filter is operated by an innovative extraction technique which is the least square technique; this technique generates the reference signal to operate the shunt active filter. The multilevel inverter is selected as a proposed topology for the active filter because it has several merits over the traditional 2-level inverter. The selected topology is operated by the improved time-based hysteresis switching strategy. The propounded ideas are proved by the simulation results using SIMULINK/MATLAB.
