Fluvial geomorphology is sensitive to climate changes, such as rainfall runoff levels, and changes in human activities, such as storage of rainfall runoff in reservoirs. Understanding the evolution of erosion and deposition of sediment within a fluvial system has implications for river channel development, estuary growth or decline, flood mitigation and fluvial management This study uses ordinary least squares and maximum likelihood regression to analyze the determinants of sediment concentration levels and sediment flux in the lower Yangtze River.
