Abstract

This paper suggests ways of enhancing the capability of existing e-learning management systems by introducing adaptivity in the way the information is presented to the on-line learner. Adaptivity means that the course content can be presented in various ways according to the results of an assessment of the preferred learning style patterns of each individual learner. Assessments may be made on the bases of proven educational theories, by employing questionnaires and/or observing behaviour and progress with on-line learning tasks. The success of existing studies is surveyed and a new approach is proposed with experiments devised for its evaluation.
