This paper argues for the importance of SNS (Social Network Service) materials for Japanese EFL (English as a Foreign Language) students who are expected to participate in a specific community where they will universally utilize their knowledge they have acquired at college level education provided in Japanese. SNS materials accessed through the web page could be a scaffolding intermediate mediating instrument which helps increase opportunities to use the target language, English. Log data and the results of questionnaire were analyzed based on the paradigm of “Theory in Practice.” The present survey found a strong preference of using SNS materials among students at Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
