cell phone computing, health care, poorly connected areas.
Mobile phones have the potential to make a substantial impact on improving healthcare in developing countries. Given their widespread adoption and the emerging trend for real-time health monitoring via wireless medical sensors, the mobile phone can be used to improve and stem the cost of healthcare. While cellphone subscriber growth has increased considerably in developing countries, penetration is still low and many areas are still poorly connected. This paper describes a reliable communication method for transmitting medical sensor data through the mobilephone network in a poorly connected area subject to frequent network disconnections.
