Abstract

A number of papers have reviewed Canada’s policies on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and found them wanting in view of Canada’s commitments under the Kyoto protocol. But there have been few published estimates of the impact of Canada’s efforts on greenhouse gas emissions, and this paper attempts to help fill this gap. This paper reviews Canada’s policies on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, estimates the impact of these policies on GHG emissions, and provides a preliminary analysis of the costs and benefits of these policies.
