Petri net, dynamic arc weight, Petri net extensions, simulation tool
Though Petri net is a powerful tool for modeling and simulation of discrete event systems (DES), its static Petri net graph property is a deficiency when modeling certain types of DES, e.g. economic systems. This paper describes a novel approach to giving semi-dynamic property to the static Petri net graph. Firstly, the results of a literature study are presented on various ways of adding dynamic property to static Petri net graph. Secondly, a new approach is presented for adding dynamic changes through implementation in transition definition files; a simulator called GPenSIM is used to show the approach. An application example on Salmon fish feeding is also given to show how the approach can be used in practice.
