Consumer Health Lexicon, Software system, Database, and Tele-Homecare
Recently developed patient- and consumer-centered health record systems allow the patients to participate actively in their healthcare process by collecting and managing their digital health documents and information. However, terms used by the medical professionals and consumers are quite different. It is important to present health information using consumer-familiar terms in any consumer application. We developed a software tool aimed to detect quantitatively medical terms used into healthcare news, or articles, - native as textual files -, devoted to consumers. Additionally, we carried out some “technical experiments” of data enquiring to infer about medical lexicon knowledge, as the first step for building a consumer health vocabulary.
