Abstract

Hospital laundries are one of the most significant consumers of electrical and thermal energy as well as water. This work focuses on the energy savings achieved by a system utilizing the hot wastewater from the washing process. The proposed system is considered to be economically viable, simple in its construction, installation and operation. From the application of the proposed system, the cost savings result in an acceptable payback period for the capital invested of about three to five years.
