linear control, earthquake engineering, pole allocation
A dynamic feedback compensator with acceleration feed back is designed for the control of structures subjected to a ground motion induced by earthquakes. The design principle is free pole allocation. The minimal order of the compensator results from the solvability of a set of equations. Existing pole selection schemes can be included to keep the control effort within limits.
