Dead-Beat Control of Discrete-Time Systems with Known Waveform-Type Unknown Disturbances

A linear discrete-time system model with both process and measurement disturbances is considered. The disturbances are unmeasurable but of known waveform type. A discrete-time dead-beat disturbance accommodation controller is proposed, which uses a reduced-order dead-beat observer to provide estimates of both the system state and disturbances. This technique will drive the state and measurement values to zero in minimum time. Some preliminary simulation studies show that disturbances are accommodated in minimum time as predicted by theory.
