Abstract

Hardware design is a permanent challenge, due to the ever-increasing complexity of the devices. Automata arrays, regarded as a form of decomposition of complex automata, could provide an efficient methodology for addressing that issue. While each cell in the array has a simple structure, cell interactions have continuously become more complex, thus questioning the effectiveness of the approach. New formal methods are required, to allow an easier modelling of such arrays. The present paper proposes a technique that uses the matrix-based automata description to describe interactions between multiple cells.
