Abstract

The World Solar Challenge (WSC) is bianual solar powered car race over 3021km (1877miles) through the central Australia from Darwin to Adelaide. This race attracts participants from all over the world. In the 2009, the Center for Product Design and Manufacturing (CPDM) of University Malaya is participating with a solar vehicle named UniMalaya. In order to study the performance of the UniMalaya solar vehicle, a telemetry monitoring system is required. National Instruments’ (NI) LabVIEW and compactRIO (cRIO) are employed in this development of telemetry monitoring system. The hardware’s configuration and programming are briefly described in this paper. A simple experiment is conducted to monitor simulated signals which are representing sensors in the solar vehicle. The monitoring system proposed is capable of acquiring and processing signals, data logging and sending out data with wireless.
