The need for lifelong learning is increasing, especially in an ever-changing work environment, which requires employees to acquire new knowledge and skills. The Hong Kong Qualifications Framework (HKQF) is a model of competency, which matches various types of qualifications to a clear definition of competency standards in different professional areas. We developed a prototype of web-based training path advisor for project management under such a framework. The system describes the HKQF in ontology and suggests personalized training path with suitable courses to learners based on a learner’s competency level, training history, and training goals.
