Abstract

Cryptanalysis plays a major role in the evolving field of network security. In this paper we had dealt with an application of directed random search algorithms called Genetic Algorithms. It is used to recover the partial key of the cipher text encrypted using vigenere cipher. Following this a dictionary based attack is mounted to recover the complete key.
