Abstract

Imogolite/TiO2 nanocomposite was synthesized and tested as photocatalyst material. The X-ray diffraction analysis and scanning electron microscopy observation indicated that inter-tubular-calation between imogolite and TiO2 was formed during synthesis. Imogolite/Ti nanocomposite can degrade methylene blue from its aqueous solution; however its photocatalytic capability is lower than physical mixing between imogolite and TiO2 sample. Long tubular imogolite has capability to protect TiO2 from UV irradiation and affect in its photocatalytic capacity. This kind of phenomena is very interesting and important for application of imogolite as supporting materials which has photosensitive characteristic. .
