Assembly, addressing modes, modular programming, microcontrollers.
This paper describes an assembly language macro-code development instructive lesson for computer architecture learning. By means of a practicable example, the authors intend to enhance tutees’ thinking of the assembly level machine organization through a thorough examination of a processor’s instruction set architecture (op-codes, addressing modes, etc). Additionally, the specified code development approach promotes the students’ modular programming skills at machine level.
