Abstract

In this paper we present an implementation method of a Continuous Media Rendering System with Sub-Media for Representing the Story Line of Main-Media. We define media data selected by users as “Main-Media data” and media data provided by our system as “Sub-Media data”. The objective of our method is to provide an environment for users to appreciate story lines of Main-Media data. The main feature of our method is to make it possible to obtain an appropriate set of Sub-Media for representing Main-Media data by calculating the relationship between Sub-Media and the story line of Main-Media data. This method consists of three functions; 1) Story-Extraction Function extracts a sequence line of metadata which shows the temporal impression-transition of Main-Media data with a metadata generation method, 2) Correlation Computing Function obtains a set of Sub-Media data by calculating the relationship between metadata of Sub Media and metadata in the sequence line of Main-Media, 3) Rendering Function synchronizes the set of Sub-Media data along the sequence line of Main-Media. In this paper, we set “impression words” as metadata, and examine the feasibility and possibility using a prototype system.
