Edge detection, image processing, standard deviation, and threshold
This paper applies a new technique, the hybrid edge detector, to perform edge detection as part of core feature extraction in digital image processing. The new technique combines the advantages of Prewitt, Sobel and optimized Canny edge detectors. The optimized Canny is the optimum Canny edges obtained by varying its Gaussian filter standard deviation and its threshold value. In a few test images involving different clean and noisy images, the best results are attained from edge images using this hybrid edge detector method.
