Biometry, Minutiae Extraction, Automatic Fingerprint Identification Systems.
This paper presents an algorithm for minutiae extraction in fingerprints images. The aim of this work is to develop an automatic system to assist specialists in the task of fingerprint identification. The algorithm was implemented in three stages. In the first stage the fingerprint image is pre-processed to increase visual discrimination. In stage two is performed thinning and minutiae marking, and finishes, in stage three, with post-processing, which eliminates spurious minutiae.
