Abstract

This paper describes the methods, algorithms, and software engineering used in the construction and use of a high-performance image data analysis application for processing videos and images in either a real-time streaming mode or from stored archival databases. The video analysis algorithms used for this application include video decomposition; object segmentation and extraction; object clustering, classification and characterization; and event classification. In addition to the basic image/video processing algorithms and functionality we also describe the high-performance hybrid multi-core processing framework and parallel programming models upon which this application is built.
