Error quantification; Sums of squares.
The formulae for the sums of squares of the input and error variables of a control system under feedback by a tracking controller are presented. These sums of squares of a track ing controller are equivalent to the variances of the input and output variables of a feedback regulating controller and therefore are calculated in the same manner by residue cal culus. These sums of squares are used to assess a tracking controller and compare performances of different tracking controllers.
