A new hybrid control approach for the thermoforming reheat process which combines an in-cycle and cycle-to cycle controllers is presented in this paper. The real-time in-cycle controller converges to the desired sheet temperature much faster, while the cycle-to-cycle control algorithm adds some robustness to process uncertainties and reduces the risk of heater saturation.
