Carbon sequestration, organic pasture, and environmental modeling
This paper provides the feature of a generic environmental model, which is capable to demonstrate environmental impacts of the organic pasture-beef production system. Carbon sequestration potential, which inversely associated with the global warming potential, was simulated. The model calculated the long term carbon sequestration potential of the pasture soils under different scenarios. Results indicate that under the organic beef production system where all manure had been recycled and the organic fertilizer had been used, the quantity of carbon sequestration in the pasture soil would increase continuously with time.
