Abstract

In this work an investigation of the phenomena which take place on contaminated glass insulators stressed by high AC voltages is attempted. Measurements of the applied voltage and the corresponding current are presented. The results presented indicate the existence of partial discharges on the surface of the contaminated insulators beyond a threshold field intensity leading to radiation emission.
