Leakage current, flashover, insulator.
This paper deals with leakage current measurements on glass insulators. The measurements were performed in a time frame of one period. The investigation of the observed phenomena showed that, in case of contaminated insulators, the response to the applied voltage is linear at first and thereafter takes the form of pulses. The study was made via i-u characteristics plotted for one cycle of voltage application. Partial discharges and arcs are some of the most possible physical phenomena experimentally detected.
