Digital substation, protection and control, wide area protection, diagnosis.
By reviewing the evolution of substation secondary technology development during past three decades, the paper has described the features of modern digital substations and the benefits for power system protection and control based on the advanced IEC61850 standard. A vertical integration of modern power system control from process level up to network control centre level has been given as a concept for future power system security.
