Abstract

Load frequency control logic is proposed to utilize LFC generators with long time delay in MW response to MW demand change from LFC. The long time delay is mainly shown in LFC generators with coal-fired boilers adopting the sliding pressure control. The time delay sometimes reaches to about 60 seconds. The basic ideas of the proposal are as follows: (i) slow varying components of ACE are assigned to the generators with the long time delay and fast varying components are assigned to the generators with short time delay. (ii) PID control is applied to improve the stability and promptitude in the generator MW response. Simple numerical simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposal.
