Abstract

A new PWM AC chopper for application to refrigeration and air-conditioning is presented. The chopper achieves energy savings by voltage regulation and reduced input current harmonics compared with the conventional thyristor technology. An experimental chopper to supply a 1.1kw motor was built and the results are presented.
