Progress in the treatment of medical images has greatly affected the diagnosis, treatment, and followup of illnesses. Since information obtained with various techniques is usually complementary, integrating that information makes it possible to obtain new knowledge on the patient and dispose of a larger amount of data in order to take better decisions. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a technique that offers high quality images of the organism, whereas Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS) allows us to study the metabolism of various organs and provides biochemical information on tissues. Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy Imaging (MRSI) refers to MRS with the anatomic image on the background. MRS provides important metabolic information that is not facilitated by other resonance techniques and supports the findings of the MRI. MRS has been analysed in various commercial and research applications, but these all focus on processing spectroscopical data instead of visualizing the information of MRI and MRS in one single graphic representation type. This work presents a tool that allows the fusion of MRS data and anatomic images of magnetic resonance. The resulting images are converted to the DICOM format, which makes them transportable to other systems where they can be analysed.
