Abstract

The nonlinear and time varying nature of loads may create flicker, harmonics, and voltage/current unbalances. Nowadays electric arc furnace as a famous kind of these loads is indented. This paper uses a time domain three phase model for creating mentioned power quality effects. First, we investigate electric arc furnace, and secondly simulate it using SIMULINK/PSB. The proposed model takes into accounts associated effects as well. Every one knows MATLAB/ SIMULINK and can simulate easily, in regard to other special software like EMTP or PSCAD.
