Abstract

Strong earthquakes occur frequently around the world, and Japan is a particularly earthquake-prone region. Therefore, in order to reduce casualties caused by earthquake-related tsunamis, it is essential to develop evacuation routes while making use of tsunami information. However, two or more evacuation routes are needed because routes might be blocked by damaged buildings, for example. We creased a program to search evacuation routes by Genetic Algorithm (GA). We examined two fitness functions for the hazard map, which was used to search for evacuation routes. Multiple evacuation routes were identified by this method. A better evacuation route was identified by comparing the two fitness methods.
