Abstract

Service providers that provide Internet access to their customers need to maintain the stability of their own network and also to reply appropriately to inquiries from customers concerning the causes of current or past connectivity problems. However, it is a hard task for network operators to prepare reports on network status in response to enormous number of inquiries. This paper proposes a database system for managing BGP data archives called BGPfind. This system helps network operators to obtain the status of external networks quickly. The paper also describes the design and implementation and of the system and provides an evaluation of its performance.
