Abstract

This paper describes the design of a novel electromagnetic radiation (EMR) signature sensor that is suitable for use on a mobile robot. The EMR sensor described here measures the signature of different electronic devices. The result of the measurement is used to recognize the source of the EMR. A prototype has been mounted on a mobile robot to autonomously search for and recognize the EMR signature of a number of different electronic devices. This paper presents the sensor operating principle, construction and some preliminary experimental results.
