Exploring Critical Aspects in VR-based Robot Teleguide

Abstract

Previous works in the field have shown that stereoscopic viewing may improve user performance in robot teleguide when compared to 2D visualization. The goal of the pro posed investigation is to extend previous experimentation and to concentrate on a few aspects. The proposed pilot investigation includes quantitative and qualitative evalua tions, testing with real and synthetic images on different display facilities, and a comparative analysis. The influ ence of selective visual attention on robot teleguide is also taken into account. Results from a set of test trials run on three different virtual reality facilities in five different con figurations, emphasized some tendencies and represent a base for further investigations.
