Abstract

A wind turbine is generally equipped with a device to control the blade pitch angle. The main purpose of the pitch control system is maintenance of a constant output. However, a wind turbine is also generally equipped with another pitch control system that prevents the windmill from excess speed increase. This paper presents the results of simulation analyses of the transient stability of a power system including a wind generator that is equipped with the latter type of pitch control system. The simulation was performed using PSCAD/EMTDC.
