Abstract

An important research problem in Internet search engines is how to predict a frequent user’s interest in certain type of web sites. Such personalized approach is believed to improve the ranking of the hyperlinks returned by a search engine. In this paper, we report experiments that indicate that the most important criterion to gauge the user’s interest is the time he or she has spent in a given web site in the past.
