Orthotropic plates, irregular rectilinear mesh, large deflection, Dynamic Relaxation
This paper investigates the large deflection of rectilinear orthotropic square and circular plates. Some types of irregular rectangular meshes are studied and an appropriate mesh to treat the curved boundary in orthotropic circular plate is introduced. The DXDR method, a modified Dynamic relaxation method, is used as an equation solver in the iteration procedure. The results obtained from plate analyses demonstrate the potential of the employed mesh. The present results of isotropic and orthotropic square and circular plates are in good agreement with some available data.
