Method for Determining the Difficulty of Shooting Game and Improving the Intelligence in Enemy's Bullet Firing

This paper discusses the basis of the difficulty of computer shooting games from the viewpoint of artificial intelligence research and proposes a method for firing enemy characters' bullets so that the enemy looks more intelligent and amusingness of shooting games is improved. In the firing method, the probability of the destruction of the player's fighter is evaluated considering the existence of multiple enemies and previously fired bullets. The performance of the method was examined by experiment using a shooting game developed by the author. The experimental results show that the proposed method is efficient in reducing the variation of actions that make the player's fighter survives without increasing the number of bullets on the game screen.
